Life-Sized Self Portraits

For our final project I wanted the class to create life-sized self portraits, something big and colorful to welcome incoming art students.

Our Process: Students took turns tracing each others shadows on paper pinned to the wall, we found that if we traced the shadow rather than tracing the person we could get a better likeness with a lot more detail. On the second day students painted the figures mixing colors to match their clothing, hair and skin tone.

On the last day of working many kids remembered to wear the same clothes as were painted on the figures, it was really fun to have them pose for pictures next to their new 2D twins.
