Color and Composition

In this introductory lesson our 7th graders studied elements of art by combining color and composition. Students used oil pastels to draw the silhouette of a plant from or schools garden, each drawing goes off three edges of the paper to create an interesting composition. To finish the picture students used an analogous or similar color to paint the background. Using a waxy drawing tool and watercolor over it is a resist technique.
